Yesterday, I discovered that there were words I just don't use anymore and thus have forgotten the definitions. Two that were used: soteriology and ontoloigcal.
I was not raised to be an academic. A vocab sheet of 20-30 words that would be used most often in my time at Covenant would have been helpful if they were given out during freshman orientation.
Some words that come to mind:
Hermaneutics
Eschaton/eschatology
Prelapsarianism
Amillienialism/pre-millenialism/post-millenialism
Soteriology
Ontology
I know there are dozens more, but I don't use these words since I've graduated. Praise the Lord for the ability to actually be able connect the dots, but it was a very painful 4 years. Fortunately, RP consists of a nunch "arroant, reformed jerks" and these ideas are discussed . . . among the men. The women have more pressing things like bearing children and figuring out how to keep them alive, healthy, and dressed while getting food on the table 3 times a day, everyday.
And this is why Sarah has issues with gender roles . . .
That's fine! As long as a woman who likes talking about theology can walk over to the other side of the room and join the discussion. :-)
I think studying theology and a good education helps make me a better wife/mother. But you don't have to use all of the four syllable theology words to have a grasp of good theology. I don't remember what some of those mean either!! :-)
That's how I feel too, Jo! :)
I was in Redeemer's parking lot on Sunday night. I was sad that I missed the worship service. The trek of Chattvegas to Hotlanta is a tad bit longer than what I'd like it to be.
